We have moved from being a 3 member Marketing team in 2009 when I first joined MTR to being an 11 member team. I lead some of the most challenging projects/ category with the trust that I would be able to deliver it in the best possible manner is one of the best things about my work here in MTR. Also it is an exhilarating feeling to build the brand from scratch and be part of the incredible growth story at MTR. Today we are more evolved as a team; we have lot more competition to face and keep abreast of the changing consumer needs by being smart and agile. We are today building stronger consumer engagement platforms by picking up sharper insights and thereby building consumer loyalty. Starting from setting up marketing department, to working on the company’s vision & mission statements, to giving the brand a new modern look, to building the category of spices and blended spices, to reaching newer consumers with our entry into newer geography. Also what also make it truly endearing for me is the people I have met at MTR and working with, it undoubtedly feels like a home away from home for me.
I joined Orkla (MTR) back in June 2010 as a Management Trainee as part of the Young Professionals Development Program. Post a fantastic seven month long cross-functional training full of insights, I moved to join the Manufacturing function, with the first big opportunity of being the Core user for the two month long SAP functional upgrade project. The company then was at the verge of major transformational events in its steps towards becoming a system driven company operating in the FMCG space with huge market potential for growth. My stint till date with MTR has been very enriching for my professional as well as personal development. We are progressing significantly on the costs and productivity fronts; future plans on improvements have been charted out well and are in a continued process of refinement as we execute them. I feel a great sense of accomplishment of having been an integral part of the process of change that MTR had embarked upon few years ago. There is so much to do and so much to accomplish, It’s always a race against time.
I started my career in 1992 with approximately 18 years of experience mostly in the FMCG industry at the time of joining MTR in 2010. I found the business in general to be challenging in terms of complexities & diversities involved. There was also ample opportunity to contribute in terms of systems and processes in the Financial Accounting & Treasury vertical. I also had the chance to recruit and build a Finance team at our Manufacturing Unit from scratch. The environment at MTR enables one to work independently & motivates one to bring out the best in his/her abilities. Contributions are recognized in spirit and in word. The challenging business environment requires us individuals to work long hours at work. Just as the family provides us with a support system that nurtures and assists us in achieving our true potential similarly, MTR and Orkla is to us at work like a friend, supporting & facilitating us in giving back our best day in, day out to achieve the Long term vision of the Company. The value culture at MTR is the foundation stone for us to succeed at our work. What sets apart MTR from the other organizations that I have worked for in the past, is the support and encouragement one gets from the people and the management.
